<br />"'\ <br /> <br />MINUTES OF MOORESVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />November 11, 1968 <br />7 : 30 PM <br />Town Hall <br /> <br />Members Present: Winston Tackitt, Dale Heselman, Bob Johnson, Dave Loudermilk, <br />John Crose, Earl Magenheimer, George Worland, Chairman, and Mr. Fisher, Attorney. <br /> <br />Due to the nature of the meeting there was a large crowd of interested <br />citizens on hand. All the old business was tabled until the new business <br />was handled. <br /> <br />The first docket to be heard was The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. <br /> <br />Ralph Storm presented his caKe FOR consideration of zoning the two <br />adjacent lots,of a total of 119 ft., to the property now zoned commercial <br />at the northeast corner of Indiana and South Streets from lA to 2B. Mr. Foley, <br />his attorney, also added enlightenment to the proposal. <br />Mr. Kappes then spoke for those citizens opposing the zoning. He defined <br />a zoning ordinance as a guideline for zoning. Mr. Steve Atwell presented pictures. <br />Charles Weaver presented a study of the traffic flow. Mrs. Weaver spoke on homes <br />being improved and also about the children living along there that would make <br />it a safety hazard. Mr Carlisle and Mrs. Meo spoke as adjacent neighbors and <br />home owners. Mr. Miller spoke on the tax depreciation. Miss Gregory also spoke <br />of tax depreciation. Mrs. Patrum also spoke and her concern was safety. Mr. <br />Horace Adams spoke of his home being a land mark in town where the Indiana <br />State Flag was designed. <br /> <br />The second docket was then heard -- that of the proposed Marathon Oil Station. <br />Representatives from the Ohio Oil Company and Mr. Worley were present to <br />explain the proposed site and presented blueprints of the ~oning for a service <br />station at the southwest corner of North Indiana at Washington St. <br />Mr. Ellsroth represented those against the zoning. Mr. Jessup presented <br />views on depreciation of neighborhood property. Several other neighbors also <br />spoke. <br /> <br />The third docket was then heard -- that of the Wake-Up Oil Company <br />Mr. Max Jackson, representative from Wake-Up Oil Co. stated that they <br />own the adjacent property west of the now existing station and wanted it <br />zoned from lA to 2B for the purpose of putting only a driveway into some of <br />their back pumps after the now exsisting house is removed with the option <br />of keeping trailer (mobile Horne) on the lot until May 31, 1969. <br /> <br />The commission then retired to an adjoining room to consider the three <br />dockets. <br />After returning to the main room they then voted on the three dockets <br />by secret ballat. <br />The results were as follows: <br />No. 1 - A&P Tea Co. 3 yes 'and <<rW8 nos <br />No. 2 - Marathon Service Station 4 yes and 1 no <br />No. 3 - Wake-Up Oil Company 5 yes (unanimus) <br />On docket No. 1 the commission was poled as to how they voted individually. <br /> <br />(Cont. ) <br />
