Ken Long appeared before the council to explain the St. Francis Run & Walk tt"be held <br /> on Saturday, August 4, 2001. Registration will be 7:00 AM, the run begins at 8:15 AM, <br /> the walk begins at 8:30 AM. and Kiddie Romp at 9:30 AM. Mr. Long said everything <br /> would be over by 10:00 AM. He also said they were big on safety and have never had <br /> any problems in the past. Councilman Mathis sa/d he had talked to Chief Viles and they <br /> would have to use offduty officers, maybe two or three on bikes but didn't see any <br /> problems. Motion was made by Councilman Mathis, second by Councilman Clark to <br /> approve the Run and Walk utilizing off duty police officers. Motion carded 5-0. <br /> <br /> Janet Demunbrun was on the agenda but was a no show. <br /> <br /> Motion was made b,~, Councilman Mathis, second by Councilman Dolen to move July <br /> meetings to July 10'~, and July 24th, 2001. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Legal: Attorney Tim Currens presented a new cemetery mowing contract to the council <br /> for approval and signing. He told them American Lawn Care could not fulfill their <br /> mowing contract and Sharp Lawn Care was going to complete this year. Motion was <br /> made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen to approve the Sharp Lawn <br /> Cemetery mowing contract for the remainder of 2001. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Fire Chief Les Farmer reported to the council two new firefighters started work June 16, <br /> 2001. They are John Gwinn and Matt Dalton. <br /> <br /> Street Department: Joe Beikman informed the council the sanitary lines on Rooker Road <br /> in the Boyd Heights Addition would cost approximately $90,000,00 to $95,000.00. The <br /> lines installed does not include hook-ohs or laterals. President Tom Warthen asked for a <br /> letter to include the pricing layout and requirements from the Town of Mooresville to <br /> forward to Ruby McCammack so she could work on support from the homeowners in the <br /> Boyd Heights community. <br /> <br /> Court: Judge Sterrett handed out a "Local Rule" which is from Public Law #280, <br /> effective July 1, 2001. This law states the court may collect $25.00 for late fees which <br /> may be receipted into the general fund and a $2.00 document storage fee which may be <br /> receipted into the Court perpetuation fund, in the Town of Mooresville's case, the Court <br /> Fax Fee Fund. <br /> <br /> Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported: thirty-four (34) calls, eleven (11) <br /> impounds, and six (6) returns. <br /> <br /> EDC Director Helen Humes reported the Redevelopment Commission held their annual <br /> meeting on Monday, June 18, 2001. Jim Ellis was sworn in as a new member. Election <br /> of Officers went as follows: President Dave Kollmeyer, Vice-President Norm Colmell, <br /> and Secretary, Brian Nelson. <br /> <br /> Councilman Pygman asked about the contract payment for Ambulance Service with <br /> Brown Township. Since there was not a line item in the Town Hall or Fire Department <br /> Budget stating ambulance contract the $75,000. 00 was not appropriated by the State <br /> Board of Accounts to spend, so an additional appropriation has to be advertised and <br /> approved by the State Board of Accounts to spend this money. Motion was made by <br /> Councilman Pygman, second by Councilman Clark to approve advertising for additional <br /> appropriation with the Public Heating date set for July 24, 2001 for $75,000.00 for <br /> ambulance service. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Pygman to approve <br /> payment of the claims. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to adjourn the <br /> meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />The next meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, July 10, <br />2001, at 6:30 P.
