September 4, 2001 <br /> <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, September 4, 2001, at <br /> 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br /> <br /> Council members present: President Tom Warthen, Andy Pygman, Mark Mathis, Toby <br /> Dolen, and John L. Clark. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim Currens was <br /> present. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Pygman, second by Councilman Clark to approve the <br /> minutes of August 21, 2001. Motion Carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> This meeting is the Pre-Adoption Hearing for 2002 Town Budget. No one from the <br /> audience had comments and no one from the council had comments. <br /> <br /> President Tom Warthen told the council there was a discrepancy with the quotes for the <br /> town department's trash pick up, and he would have to contact the Mooresville Park <br /> District, then requote. This item is tabled to the next meeting, September 18, 2001. <br /> <br /> Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported: twelve(12) calls, eight (8) impounds, and <br /> four (4) returned. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen to approve <br /> payment of the claims. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Next on the agenda; discussion of real property, the old Methodist Church, across the <br /> street from the Town Hall. Councilman Dolen commented he thought this purchase by <br /> the Town of Mooresville would be a good oppommity to save an historical site. After <br /> some discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark <br /> to offer $175,000.00 and pay the fall installment of taxes for the building, contingent <br /> upon the environmental study and the appropriation approval of monies. Motion carded <br /> 4-0, with one abstention, Mark Mathis. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to advertise for an <br />additional appropriation from Cumulative Capital Development-$100,000.00 and General <br />Fund Earned Interest account-$100,000.00. Motion carried 4-0, one abstention, Mark <br />Mathis. The advertisement will be in two newspapers on Saturday, September 8, 2001 <br />and the Public Hearing will be on Tuesday, September 18, 2001, at 6:30 P. M. at the <br />Mooresville Town Hall. <br /> <br />Town attorney Tim Currens wanted to note that at the Executive Session at 6:00 P. M. <br />prior to this meeting, councilman Mathis was not present. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Pygman to adjoum the <br />meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />The next meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be on Tuesday, September 18, <br />2001, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall.
