Motion was made by Councilman Edwards and second by Councilwoman Overholser <br />to Proclaim the month of October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. <br />Motion carried unanamously. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilwoman Overholser and second by Councilman Ballard <br />to Proclaim October 6-12, 1991 Fire Safety Week. Motion carried unanamously. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Ballard and second by Councilwoman Overholser <br />to approve a resolution for the following transfer of funds: <br /> <br /> = -' GENERAL i~0ND - GTC <br /> FROM: AMOUNT: TO: <br /> <br />2-161 Official Records $ 1,700.00 2-163 Other Supplies <br />3-213 Travel 626.00 4-473 Other Equip. <br /> <br /> GENERAL FUND - GTH <br /> <br />2-161 Official Records 200.00 2-163 Other Office <br /> Supplies <br /> <br />Motion carried unanamously. <br /> <br /> The Council discussed the possibility of having at town wide leaf pick up <br />program. It was decided to investigate the possibility of having a central <br />location for the citizens to bring leaves for disposal. Action on this matter was <br />tabled until next meeting to allow time to gather additional information on this <br />project. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Edwards and second by Councilwoman Overholser to <br />obtain two appraisals on the property at 39 1/2 West Main Street for possible pur- <br />chase by the town for a parking lot. Motion carried unanamously. <br /> <br /> Clerk-Treasurer Ann Whaley reported that in regard to the recycling project <br />that a scavenger service has quoted the town they will pay the town five cents <br />a pound for aluminum and one cent a pound for glass and plastic. The scavenger <br />service will supply the recepticles for holding the recycables and will pick up <br />every other day. There has been a problem on where to place the recycling con- <br />tainers. After much discussion motion was made by Councilman Ballard and second <br />by Councilman Edwards to place the recycling containers on the north end of the <br />municipal parking lot on a temporary basis. <br />Motion carried unanamously. <br /> <br /> Economic Development Director Randy Haymaker advised the Council that some of <br />the local merchants are interested in finishing the downtown sidewalk project this <br />year at their expense. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilwoman Overholser and second by Councilman Edwards to <br />contact the sidewalk contractor to see if it would be possible for them to come <br />back to town this fall to construct additional sidewalks downtown, at the expense <br />of the merchants. Motion carried unanamously. <br /> <br /> Mr. Haymaker also advised the Council that Congressman John Meyers has announced <br />that the United States Postal Service will not relocate Mooresville mailboxes to <br />curbside. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilwoman Overholser and second by Councilman Ballard <br />to approve the bills and claims. Motion carried unanamously. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Mooresville Town Council <br />at this time motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Edwards and second by <br />Councilman Ballard.
