225 July 19, 1994 The Mooresville Town Council met in executive session Tuesday, July 19, 1994 at the Mooresville Town Court at Pioneer Pointe, 215 E. High Street at 6:00 p.m. Council members present were Steve Edwards, Steve Ballard, Dick Heald and Pat Overholser. Tim Viles was present; however, Councilman Heald asked Councilman Viles to excuse himself from the meeting due to the fact that the Council was going to discuss the appointment of Chief of Police, a position which Mr. Viles was an applicant. The Council discussed the position of Chief of Police which needs to be filled due to the retirement of Chief George Ditton. Economic Development Director Randy Haymaker discussed economic development with the Council from 7:10 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The executive session of the Mooresville Town Council adjourned at 7:30 p.m. July 19, 1994 The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session Tuesday, July 19, 1994 at the Mooresville Town Court at Pioneer Pointe, 215 E. High Street at 7:30 p.m. Council members present were Steve Edwards, Steve Ballard, Dick Heald, Tim Viles and Pat Overholser. No members were absent. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as submitted. Council President Overholser recognized Councilman Heald to make the Chief of Police selection committee's recommendation to the Council. Councilman Heald informed the Council that after reviewing all the resumes for Chief of Police the committee inter- viewed their applicants. Councilman Heald informed the Council that the committee recommended Tim Viles for the position of Police Chief for the Town of Mooresville to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Chief Ditton. Motion was made by Councilman Heald, second by Councilman Ballard to appoint Tim Viles Chief of Police for the Town of Mooresville to succeed Chief George Ditton. Motion carried unanimously. Councilman Ballard excused himself from the meeting due to the fact he had to go to Wisconsin to pick up the aerial fire truck. Mr. Ross Holloway appeared before the Council to present a proposed subdivision plat of sixty-five lots on Indianapolis Road. Mr. Holloway, representing Sonny Perry, asked the Council to approve sewer availability for this development. The Council discussed in detail the problems which this development presents to an already over used sewer line. Councilman Viles voiced concern about the infiltration and sewer back ups on the sewer line which this development would access. Sewer Collection Superintendent Joe Beikman informed the Council that HNTB, the Town's engineering firm, has proposed a lift station or the installation of a gravity line as solutions for the sewer problems in this area.
