Motion was made by Counc~nan I lcnslcy, second by Counc~nan Py~nan to apl)rove thc n~utes of the June 17, 1997 mccth~g with a change made in the tied para~'aph to change thc motion carded B'om 5-0 to 4-0 since only lbur members were present. Motion was made by Counc~nan Hcnslcy, second by Counc~nan Dolcn to al)prove tiffs request. Motion carried 5-0. Next, the Molex Collmration Tax Abatement was brought bcfore the Counc~. Much d~cussion was held pertah&lg to the T~ Abatcmcm. N~kc Young of the Moorcs~c Plan Conmdssion wanted to hmw ff thc Molcx Co~poration had asked lbr Ii'ce land and a ten year t~x abatement for proper~ and equipment ti'om the very beghmh~g. }lc also asked why thc Plan Conu~sion wasn't hffonncd of lhe package when Molcx came bclm'c them on June 26, 1997 for an mncn~tcnt to the zo~lg and a n&lor plat approval. Ron Ovcrlon of Overton and Sons stated several reasons why hc felt the package did not wan'ant "both givc-aways." llc felt Moorcs~e did not need another plath~g incident as with thc Sumnfit Industries problem, that ten acres was way too much ~'ound for a 24,000 or a 48,000 squm'c foot bu~dh~g, thc low cmploytncnt rate, and he felt the investment was a maybe. Councihnan Wri~t conunentcd he wanted the Redevelopment Col~sion to 8un'ender theh' auflmrity to Ihc Town Counc~ for thc possible buyhig of l~d and dcedh~g it away to a company. Thc conuncnt was made Ihat ff Molex did not receive bofli the ~ abate~ncnt and the free land they would not come to Moorcs~c. Counc~nan Dolcn s~ted he felt ~e the Molex Corporation was twh~g to hold l&n hostage. Steve Campbc~ also stated hds were playhg b~ketba~ ~ the s~eet on the you edge of Nort~eld Drive, an ~ea of a lot of ~affic. Motion was made by Councilman Wfi~t, second by Councilman Pygman to approve the promotion of Danny Tingle, Wastewater Treatment Plant, to Depamnent Head (title would be Superintendent of the Wastewater Treatment Plant) with a pay increase to $37,000.00 per year. · Motion carded 5-0. Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported tlfirty-P, vo (32) calls, thirteen (13) impounded, and three (3) returned. Motion was made by Councilman Hensley, second by Councilman Dolen to approve the Transfer of Levy Excess Funds: $3,952.00 from General Levy Excess Fund back into the Town General Fund and $4,070.00 from Park Levy Excess Fund back into the Park General Fund. Motion carded unanimously. Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman ttensley to approve the including of thc Brookmore Sut,ey to thc Sewer Audit Umbaugh and Assoc. will be conducting on July 9th and 10th.
